Thanks for the update!! I remember playing with Tom and Dick Greeley from Longview, Wash.
They were great, great (etc) of Horace Greeley of “Go West Young Man, Go West”. We stayed in the 2 story motel and my mom made a pie from the peaches we brought her.
This film brings back so many good memories. We stayed in the motel for our vacation twice in the late 50′s.
I was about 12 at the time. I learned to water ski there with Mary ? (from Wenatchee-her Dad was a Dr.) She later became the Apple Blossom Queen. I remember running thru the orchards and eating ripe fruit until we all got sick–but it was soooo goood!!! Is the resort still there? I hope more people are still enjoying it as we did back then. Thanks!!
Mary Radewan-Heinz. she had two younger sisters – Amy Radewan-Cunningham and Peggy Radewan . Portions of the resort remain-old cabins removed and replaced with modern condos on pleasant beach side. Old boat house directly across from pat and mikes remains. On the Lake Villa side, the single level cement block motel remains the same, but great house converted to condos. Mary’s father was an ophthalmologist – first to do corneal transplants in WA state.
Love the movie. Brings back many memories.
We stayed at Pleasant Beach. twice we camped at the point, where they now store boat trailers. We also stayed at Lafferty’s Motel. What a great time. We now enjoy our condo for 37 years at Lafferty’s , which was the old Lafferty’s house. Thanks for the memories.
First year here for me at Laffertys Pleasant Beach Resort was summer of 1947 and then one to two weeks spent every summer thru the 70′s!!
In the 40′s and early 50′s there were boat houses next to the dock that housed cool old wooden boats.
Fishing with dough balls was great for Chubbs. We stayed in the pickers cabins with the attached car port in the early years and cooked on a Coleman cook stove and roasted just picked corn in the beach campfire.
Mom and Dad slept in the cabin and my brother and I slept outside on the grass under the Elm trees.
Best part of the day was an ice cream trip to Pat and Mikes….at night we danced in the boathouse to a really cool jute box and played the pinball machine! In the 70′s my children always looked forward to our summer vacation at Pleasant Beach!
SCROLL DOWN – WE’VE POSTED MANY FACEBOOK COMMENTS ABOUT THIS VIDEO
We promoted viewing of this great video on Facebook too…
And thus some follks posted comments there as well.
Becuase our goal is to pull together as many memories of the pas as possible,
I copied those Facebook Postings through August 9th and am adding them here so that they be included.
Thanks to everyone who has responded – This has been a great experience,

Not only was it fun to watch the video, I really got a kick out of identifying Paul Thomas seniors old Century wood boat. Dalton Thomas and I think we are the two skiers. Also, the state park football footage shows myself (running with the ball), Herb and Dalton Thomas and cousin, Burt Koch.
Thanks for the memories!

Wow…. thanks for the memories! My parents home was 1 mile north of Pat & Mikes.
They also had summer cabin at Riddle Creek, 4 mi.down lake from Stehekin. The lake
was always in use by some of our family and if any of them wanted a picnic… where else
but the Millers waterfront home! Neither Mom or Dad knew how to swim but their boat
was busy often. Few life vests were somewhere??? The oceanfront just isn’t as good as
that special lake! However, after bus accident left me with more hesitation to use lake
like we used to. Remember “Lassie Come Home” and their boat that sunk with all their
booze??? Some had real experience time, diving for the bottles! Your pics are great!
While I sit here in 100 degree Idaho, seeing the Lake brings back many memories. My Dad built a boat in his carport, then built water skiis, and while I worked at the General Telephone Company, he would meet me at noon at City Dock and pull me around the lake on my noon hour. He deposited me back at City Dock and I walked the alley to the telephone company and changed back into my work clothes. Many happy memories of my years living there. I wish I recognized people but I don’t. I remember the name of a boat Gene took us for a ride in: the Ventnor! (sp?) I love that clear, clean water and so do my grandchildren (12)!
What a wonderful place to be raised. We really were very fortunate kids to have all this at our finger tips! It makes ya question why we ever left it! Thank you for digitizing the movie and making it available to everyone! By the way, several times I saw Kay Higgin’s boat! And “Ding” hello! The criss craft I believe belonged to the Warrens that lived by the boat launch (the only one at that time) on the south shore. (I might have that name wrong!) I’ll send this on to two from the ’57-59′s class era to see if they know anybody. TBA
A special thanks to M & M PRODUCTIONS, Malcolm Keithley, and Jerry Isenhart for their efforts to make this available to everyone. Lots of good memories as I grew up at Lafferty’s Pleasant Beach.
My grandparents developed the property in the 30′s.
My parents (Jim and Barb) took over the Pleasant Beach portion in the late 40′s and sold it in the late 60′s.
My father’s brother, Jack, and his wife Della, designed and constructed the Lake Villa in the late 40′s and later converted the property to condos in the 70′s.
I’m glad to see Jerry Isenhart’s positive recollections of his time at the resort – hope he enjoyed his time there as much as I did.
Gene Starcher may be able to place a specific date to the film as he was some years older than I and operated the boat rental concession.
Again, thanks for the memories – thanks to John Krawczyk for bringing the film to my attention.
Hello, Mike- my name is Catherine Walker and my parents, Al and Evelyn Walker, bought the #1 unit at Pleasant Beach motel around 1967. We had stayed at the other units for several summers and then moved “up” when we acquired the last unit of the converted motel. I and two of my four brothers still own the unit. I think we started renting in about 1965.
I have so many memories of Jack and Della sitting on our patio having drinks with my parents. My mother and Della remained friends for the rest of their lives and my mom tried to see Della on every trip to the lake until my mom’s health just presented too great a barrier. My mom died in 2008. I never did learn when Della passed away. Where are her children now? A boy and a girl, if memory serves, and I am forgetting their names (darn).
Your grandparents and great uncle and aunt owned an amazing stretch of property. I only wish my parents had bought the boathouse when Jack offered it for sale in the 70s.

Towards the end of the video there is a picture of several people (I think all female) sitting. The one in the front looks very much like Maria Mayer! Boy, does that video bring back memories!!
Loved the movie, obviously late 50s by some of the cars. Lafferty’s Pleasant Beach Resort was hard to get into during the summer months as they only allowed their guests and friends of guests. I did get in there a few times during the height of the season like this video showed. My guess is that MOST of those depicted were tourists rather than locals because of the restrictions. I certainly remember the diving board and the floating raft. I remember when I was first able to swim out to the raft (late bloomer on swimming). Beautiful pictures of the old Lady of the Lake and the Speedway and a couple gorgeous old Chris Crafts. I did not recognize anyone except, the name Harv Hollings did come to my head when I saw two young men laying on their stomachs on a dock or the raft – and I have not even thought of him since way back then? Oh, such memories of better times in America – loved watching it.
Jerry, Thanks for posting that wonderful old video. It brought back so many memories of good times at Pleasant Beach Resort. We probably stayed there every summer during the 70′s and it was so inexpensive, all our friends could joins us. I remember the old cabins with holes in the walls and standing in line forever to take a morning shower in the community shower cabin. Yes, it had the best beach on the lake!!! Thanks to whoever worked on this – great job! Enjoyed the music too!
Although I don’t know who took this footage, or any of the people in the movie, this video really brings back memories from the 70′s. My parents, George and Carol Stenhouse, moved us four kids (Sheri, Mike, Teri, and me…) from Oregon to Chelan in late 1975 after purchasing Pleasant Beach Resort. We had vacationed at the resort in the years prior, and when my parents found out the place was up for sale, they decided to purchase it. The family ran the resort for a couple of years…..well, everyone but me (I was 6 years old at the time…), and I’ve always treasured the memories of feeding the ducks after school on those great Fall afternoons when the lake was like glass, playing on that wonderful beach (one of the best in the area), and playing in the sun during the summer. My Dad and I would take our Chris Craft out in the afternoons to “jump the Lady of the Lake’s waves” on her return from Stehekin, which was always full of laughs, and a lot of water over the bow. I have wondered why he let a 6-year old drive that boat like that….
That move for the family brought us to the Chelan Valley, and I’ve always thought of the area as home base ever since. Thank you for finding this wonderful video.
David – I was a good friend of your moms. I worked with her at Campbell’s for almost fifteen years. I have such fond memories of her telling me stories of your family and that resort they ran. I saw this video and immediately thought of her and your family. She was such and incredible woman and made such a positive impact on me! I think of her often and miss her. -Tammy Pratt

Della lives with Charlie in Entiat. Jack passed in the mid 70s. Charlie’s sister died this year. David, the youngest son, lives in Wenatchee.
Forwarding this to some pioneers….I have some classic pics from parents at Campbells in September of ’55….if you’re searching for more.

This is a great movie that brings back memories. Sure glad the white bathing caps went out of style. Thanks for sharing Malcolm.
